Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving like a little Arts & Crafts…right?
Like a lot of stories I tell these days, it starts like this: I saw a picture on Pinterest…
The ingredients: my new favorite tag punch (the big green thingy), baker’s twine (I have every color!), Christmas cards that I bought 2 years ago & never used (it’s the thought that counts…right?), my latest Button Lover’s Club – Scarlet arrived just in time, and various needles, paper scissors & regular old hole punch.
(can’t forget my 2 willing helpers…Billy & Chris were home for the holiday)
Billy used my giant tag paper punch & went to work on the Christmas cards. We got about 4 out of each card so I have some cards left (but don’t wait by the mailbox…). He then took the regular hole punch & put 2 holes in the top of each tag.
While Billy punched away, Chris ‘measured’ how much baker’s twine we would need for the mantel.
So now we have tags, buttons & twine! (I did use a large needle to thread the twine – it made going through the buttons & tags easier)
This picture makes me so happy! As a kid, I spent hours sitting on the floor playing with colorforms, drawing & coloring large posters. Chris layed out the garland design…
I asked him what he was doing – ‘layering the buttons’…swoon, he’s a natural!
Putting the garland together!
Taking a doggie break…
Billy started a second project: buttoned garland!
We just cut a length of twine & threaded buttons every so often…love the way it turned out!
Both projects were a win!
Testing it on the mantel!
TA-DAA!
I think it turned out very well…maybe even Pinterest-worthy!
Thanks for joining me on my craft caper…more holiday decorating pics next time!
Enjoy the stitch!
