A FLAMBOYANCE HOLIDAY – FINISHING TEMPLATE

September 21, 2020 By Cathy Habermann 13 Comments

A Flamboyance Holiday – Finishing Template

Thank you for stitching this little mini-series of flamingos – the perfect touch for a Flamboyance Holiday!

I’ve provided a template which is the exact size that was used in the pictured finishes. You just need to grab some matboard, cardboard, batting, ribbon & all of those extra little bits to fully-finish your series!

Please follow my other Flat-Finishing tutorials for guidance on setting up your cut boards, lacing & stitching front to back. Print out this page & adjust as necessary so that the dimensions of the template measure what it should be.

I chose to use jute ribbon for a hanger & add a secondary bow—it is just put in place with a coordinating ball head pin.

You will need to cut 6 pattern pieces in all to complete all 3 ornaments. I would trace this onto a piece of cardboard & cut to use as a template. This will make your tracing more consistent.

Print template here.

I sent you an email but figured I would answer here in case anyone had the same question. You can definitely divide your linen for the flamingos just as you did for the Secret Santas!

I wish there were more dEtailed instructions on how to finish the flamingos. You say what materials are needed, but not how to assemBle the ornament. I am currently working on all 3 flamingos, and would loVe to be able to finish them the way they are pictured.
Hoping you can provide more information!
    Thank you!

Actually, I’m looking at the charts now (2 are hard copy and one d/l from your site), and no mention of the pom color!

How much material (linen) is recommended beyond the design area? I’m laying the 3 designs out on one piece. I want to make sure i have left enough fabric around each design to finish as yoh have shown.

I typically leave 3″ on all 4 sides because I like to stitch with an 8″x8″ q-snap (& that piece would fit) – if you are confident with finishing, I would say that you would be OK with 1 1/2 to 2″ all around!

No stitchy posts this weekend- I get to be Mom all No stitchy posts this weekend- I get to be Mom all weekend. Billy just got home from an amazing trip out west where he got to white water raft, ride a gondola, hike in a national park (where they saw all kinds of wildlife), swim, go to a real rodeo, go on an alpine rail, make new friends and so much more.

I missed him so much (even though he doesn’t live with us every day…yep, the mom in me knew he was far away 😊) - we are so thankful to the Let’s Go West team for planning & documenting this trip. He’s staying on with us a few more days …I was even excited to do his laundry!?!?🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I do have a yellow pulled for the negative space that looks kinda quilty. I'm thinking about leaving it like it is...what do you think?
