SCARY APOTHECARY – FINISHING TEMPLATE

April 30, 2019 By Cathy Habermann 6 Comments

Scary Apothecary – Finishing Template

Thank you for stitching this spooky, silly & sparkly Halloween series! I’ve provided a template (see link below) which is the exact size that was used in the pictured finishes. You just need to grab some matboard, cardboard, batting, ribbon & all of those extra little bits to fully-finish your series!

Please follow my other Flat-Finishing tutorials for guidance on setting up your cut boards, lacing & stitching front to back. Print out this page & adjust as necessary so that the dimensions of the template measure what it should.

I chose to use ribbon for a hanger & add a secondary bow—it’s put in place with a coordinating ball head pin. I chose a fun woolfelt ball for the bottom—I found mine at a variety of Etsy shops. That is also help in place with a pin, this time with a good old straight pin.

You will need to cut 18 pattern pieces in all to complete all 9 ornaments. I would trace this onto a piece of cardboard & cut to use as a template. This will make your tracing more consistent.

Here is the link to the template!   Finishing template

Added bonus! I offered a complimentary design at Nashville market. Favorite Brew was designed with the colors that I used throughout the series – even some of the Scary Sparkle! Print yours here:   favorite brew

Have fun finishing & be sure to show your finishes using the hashtag— #scaryapothecary.

Enjoy the stitch,

Cathy, Hands On Design

How big a Cut of 32 count winter wishes do you suggest we purchase to stitch the complete set of nine designs?
Also – are multiple skeins of any of the flosses Required to stitch the entire series (fibers and/or kreiniks)? Thank you for your help! Love your designs.

A fat half of linen will be more than enough to complete each of the 9 ornaments. I stitched on 9 x 9 pieces – this will give you a little extra (but it’s a beautiful color!)
If you look at the designs on the website, I give the thread requirements – how many skeins of each – if you are stitching the whole series including the Kreinik #4 Braid.

What did you use around the ornaments? If that a special ribbon or cording? Thank you!

I just saw this set on a floss tube channel and fell in love!! I knew that I had to stitch them. If I were to want to finish the set as a banner, how would you suggest doing that? thank you.

No stitchy posts this weekend- I get to be Mom all No stitchy posts this weekend- I get to be Mom all weekend. Billy just got home from an amazing trip out west where he got to white water raft, ride a gondola, hike in a national park (where they saw all kinds of wildlife), swim, go to a real rodeo, go on an alpine rail, make new friends and so much more.

I missed him so much (even though he doesn’t live with us every day…yep, the mom in me knew he was far away 😊) - we are so thankful to the Let’s Go West team for planning & documenting this trip. He’s staying on with us a few more days …I was even excited to do his laundry!?!?🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

A little 'down-time' between HOD models, I started A little 'down-time' between HOD models, I started Harvest Lilies from my good friend Tracy @inkcircles.xs - I switched up the linen for 32ct Rosewood @fabrics.by.steph & called for threads with Sulky 12wt. I do have a yellow pulled for the negative space that looks kinda quilty. I'm thinking about leaving it like it is...what do you think?
