The French Kitchen
The French Kitchen series began as a collaboration of Hands On Design & Summer House Stitche Workes. The original 4 pieces were designed to embrace the fruits & herbs of the season – the idea to go ‘a la francaise’ was born out of the colors and feel that we wanted to create with each piece.
This 5th design was created as a teaching piece – a final design to wrap up the series & provide a storage for your ‘out of season’ panels. Our plans to teach this were scrubbed like all of our 2020 teaching plans…so we thought that we would make the design available for all & offer this in depth tutorial.
Indeed, the seasonal panels will store nicely in the box (you may need to remove their bows). We thought it might also be a great recipe card holder, secret chocolate hiding space, or catch all for little things.
The fabrics that were used in our model are: exterior – Esther’s Heirloom Shirtings by Kim Diehl for Henry Glass & Co (1683), interior – Wit and Wisdom by Kim Diehl for Henry Glass & Co (1425)
Please gather matboard, cardboard, cotton fabric, warm & natural batting, double sided tape, DMC 833 (for cording), lacing/upholstery thread, and your usual finishing supplies.
Enjoy the finish, Cathy & Beth
