Poinsettia Pageant – Finishing
Just a little picture walk if you would like to use a finish similar to mine – I wanted a ‘rick-rack’ like finish without the rick rack.
Gather supplies:
- I used a foam brush & Chantelle’s DIY paint – Carnival Red
- Paint 2 light coats then sand the edges
- Print the painting template here

- Gather a sheet of quilting template maker, basting spray, clear coat & dark charcoal/black-ish craft paint

- print the template & trace the wavy line pattern onto the quilt template. Cut along the wavy line to remove the center portion of the shape – you are basically making a stencil
- put spray baste onto the back of the template & place onto the painted board
- paint inside the opening to create the wavy square

- I waited until the paint was just a little dry & removed the stencil
Once dry, I sanded the area I just painted until it was the look I wanted- Spray with a clear coat – at Chantelle’s suggestion, I buffed the clear coat (once dry) with a paper bag to buff
- Attach the laced ornament to the board with double sided tape. I embellished the top with a red woolfelt ball & holly leaves (benziedesign.com)
Enjoy & I hope that you enjoy this year’s Ornament Box!
