Can I tell you how buzzy…I mean busy it has been around here?
College graduation is fast approaching for our youngest, Chris – last tennis meets, last projects to turn in, last internships, last tuition payments (oh, wait…this one is for us!) Exciting adventures await…his Dad & I are thrilled for him!
Our oldest, Billy, has also had his share of transitions and we are equally thrilled for him. While he had successes at his 1st place of employment, we ultimately felt it was not a good fit for him. He braved on through the red tape that is ‘social care’ to land a great gig at a local university. Donning uniform, chef’s hat & a really sharp knife (oh my) – he does his part preparing cafeteria menus for college students. (Let me tell you, I would go back to college just to have lunch here!) – his Dad & I are so thankful for the team that works ‘behind-the-scenes’ with job coaching, transportation & filling out all of the paperwork!!
One of the perks of this job is nice breaks for holidays & summers off! This has allowed him to do some volunteer work AND (yay!) – come work for me this summer!
Woo hoo! We celebrated his 1st day last week with lunch from Subway!
Billy is a huge help packing charts & orders. He works hard to put all of those little fiddly bits together for some of my designs! I am looking forward to spending more time with him this summer (it’s nice to have someone to talk to in the studio other than myself!)
If family life is busy…then Hands On life is buzzier! Shipments have been going out each month with the 12 Days series nearing an end and new designs for Cool Beans (see the What’s New section under Shop menu) – Oh Bee Hive has had a resurgence because…well, bees! I’ve always loved this design with it’s use of woolfelt hexies in the pillow. I also used the hexagon shape in the finish of Just Bee: Bee More pinkeep! It really helped set the design elements. – Just Bee has shipped to shops – bee sure to contact yours! (see the What’s New section under Shop menu)
I have several shop-club projects that I’m so excited about! First up is ‘My Stitcher’s Heart’ – here’s a sneak peek at the main piece – a hexagon shaped box (love that shape!) to store some of your treasures. Lois of Elegant Stitch & Lady Dot Creates has put these wonderful kits together – from floss, linen & box straight through to step by step finishing instructions. I can’t wait to show you more (I plan to attempt my first Floss Tube video to show you all of the accessories!)
The complete saying is: My needle & thread, may they never part, it’s the key to unlock my Stitcher’s Heart.
Enjoy the Stitch,
Cathy
